Red Laces for $1

Saucony has jumped on board to fight childhood obesity. They are raising money, selling red laces for $1.00. The Saucony Run for Good Program has been created to help reverse the trends of lacking exercise and poor dietary habits amongst our children and youth today.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the Run for Good Program, which provides grants to non-profit organizations that support our mission. Some of the fourth round grant winners were YMCA of Greater Spartanburg, Crim Fitness Foundation, Perry Central Community School Corporation, and Johnson County Park and Recreation District. The Massachusetts Governor's office is helping with the fight against obesity. The governor, Deval Patrick, declared Monday, April 9, 2007 the program in the Commonwealth.

This is awesome! I'm a runner so I loved your presentation today. I also think it's cool that the type of intervention you talked about is being implemented by different shoe companies. Good for them--they're focusing on more than their fit followers :)

What a cool simple way to raise funds and promote a cause! I like it!

I think that this is a great idea!!! Having had a little bit of experience in benefit event planning and implementation I know how hard it is to get people to donate money. But, with this idea of the red shoes laces, not only are they useful and traveling advertisement for the campaign, but they are the perfect price to get a lot of people to be willing to purchase them.

Hey there Talita!!!
Hey is this your "family" blog, like yours and your husband's? Cuz I only saw running and fit crap so I wasn't sure ... anyway, sorry I never replied your comment last time when you asked me what I'm doing with "all my extra time" hahaha, well I have a new found passion that will soon be taken away from my life which is AFTERNOON NAPS! Love them! But besides that I'm still doing massages out of my house, just until next Saturday. I have about 3-5 per week and I had to paint and decorate our guest/massage room for that. We didn't paint the nursery or anything but I've been working on some crafty projects (taken that I'm not crafty at all is taking me longer than most people), also I spend about 2 hrs throughout the day doing something with max, either walking him, training him or just taking him to parks around him for him to socialize with other dogs. I have worked a lot in reorganizing closet space in my house to get rid of old junk and free up space for new junk, like baby crap. I have been doing some canning with my mom-in-law and just last week I canned 14 1 Quart jars of chicken and 7 jars of vegetables (carrots, corn and peas). I think I'm done canning until the summer for now cuz it takes me all day and my mom and little brother are coming next week so this week's chores include getting the house ready for them and baby (cleaning wise, like washing bedding etc) finishing the nursery and stocking up on food for those first 2 weeks or so. Uff ... got tired, I think is time for my afternoon nap ... anyway, that is my new "house wife" life and I LOVE IT!!!!

Tell me how things are going in DC mmmkay, you guys take care!
